In the geographical centre of Lanzarote, at an important crossroads from which any part of the Island can be reached, there stands one of the works of César Manrique that carries the most symbolic references: the architectonic collection of the Museum-House and Monument to Fertility.

Isolated upon the horizon stands out a monumental sculpture called "Fertility" dedicated to Lanzarote´s Peasant.
Within the house we can see many objects and tools related to Island´s culture and agriculture.
Continuing the project developed by César Manrique before his death, other outbuildings were added.

César Manrique always showed his fascination for popular architecture, which he considered a symbol of identity and a distinctive feature of the Island. In 1972 he compiled in the book called "Lanzarote, unprecedented architecture", an extensive photographic inventory including the most important examples of our traditional architecture.
