During the tour visitors will find an interesting historical content, explaning the role of the Canary Islands over four centuries of piracy. You can see the weapons being used at that time, flags, a replica of the center of La Villa de Teguise as it was formerly, panels with the chronology of the various pirate attacks occured in Lanzarote and clothes of the militias and pirates, among others.
The Castillo de Santa Barbara is the most important historical monument of the town of Teguise. It was built by Sancho de Herrera in the sixteenth century as a watchtower. The history of this building is marked by successive invasions of pirates and privateers. In 1588 renowned architect Leonardo Torriani reinforced the strength and structure offers a number of improvements.
