Protected Areas

PROTECTED AREAS

In Lanzarote thirteen have been declared Protected Natural Areas, with the Timanfaya National Park in particular standing out, recognized as such in 1974. The total area covered is about 35,029 hectares, representing 41% of the island, being Yaiza the town with more surface under any figure of protection. Lanzarote was declared a Biosphere Reserve in October 1993 by UNESCO.

Do not forget to visit these places so important in the island.
